Students in third through eighth grade from Cameron Elementary, Sand Hill Elementary, Sherrard Middle School and Cameron High School competed in two divisions. Division I featured seven different categories and Division II included nine categories.

There were 44 project entries, with 60 students participating. While an overall winner isn’t named, five students earned a perfect score from the judges. Those students include Sand Hill Elementary student Ava Kimmins for her project titled “Harriet Tubman’s Journey into History,” Sherrard Middle School student Zoe Zervos for her project titled “Ice Cream,” Sherrard Middle School student Allison McGraw for her project titled “Smithsonian Institution” and the team of Jordan Cunningham and Sarah Naome for their project titled “Appalachian Glass and COVID.”

Individual winners and group winners in each category will compete against students from Hancock, Brooke, Ohio and Wetzel counties during the Regional Social Studies Fair on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Sherrard Middle School.

Regional winners from all over the state will go head-to-head at the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
